Hello!
My name is Liz Cochran, and I was crowned Miss Alabama 2009
this past June at the Samford Wright Center. I have
completed my junior year at Birmingham Southern College and
plan to begin my senior year in the fall of 2010. I am
pursuing a dance major with a biology and psychology double
minor and a pre-med emphasis. As Miss Alabama, I am
promoting my personal platform "With Every Beat" as well as
being a goodwill ambassador for the Children's Miracle
Network. In my free time, I enjoy choreographing and
teaching dance. I am looking forward to competing in
the Miss America Pageant this January. Thanks for visiting

With
Every Beat
My
platform, centered on improving
heart health for all of us, is
entitled “With Every Beat”. My
mission is to do all that I can in
helping to decrease the death rate
related to cardiovascular disease in
the United States through education
and involvement in the work of the
American Heart Association. Through
my work with children, I hope to
inspire healthy lifestyle choices
now that will promote lifetime
habits for an active, productive

My
Children's Book
As I visited and spoke to
elementary school children in
Alabama about the importance of
forming habits that are heart
healthy, I realized that a good
medium for clarifying
and emphasizing these ideas for
children would be a book that they
could enjoy reading and would
hopefully remember. I authored my
first book entitled “The Quest for a
Healthy Heart” that introduced the
bunnies Herb and Hope in their quest
for a healthy life.
